My journey started out pursuing a general medicine degree. I was on a softball scholarship so I decided to finish that Bachelor's Degree in Health Science, and minor in Biblical Studies, despite my career aspirations shifting. I was fortunate to be able to immediately role into the accelerated BSN program at CSU Sacramento.
I became a Registered Nurse and Public Health Nurse in 2018. My RN journey began in a Medical-Surgical new graduate residency program, and I have stayed with the hospital system I was hired in for the entirety of my RN career, serving on the Medical/Surgical/Trauma unit, and currently in Employee Health Services.
Like mentioned in my introduction section, I became interested in fertility coaching and lactation consulting through my own hardships. I first earned my Certified Lactation Counselor in 2021, then my Certified Fertility Health Coach in 2022.
I attended the UC San Diego Extension Program for IBCLC Pathway 2 in 2022. I found out I was pregnant with our second boy 1 week after I submitted my application for the program and paid the deposit. After receiving much encouragement from the faculty, I decided to take on the challenge. It was a wonderful experience, and I had the blessing of having our boy 3 weeks before the program ended (only had to miss one lecture!).
I sat for the IBCLC Board Exam in March 2023, and received the passing test result in July 2023.
Since then, I have been involved with the West Coast Lactation Association and also contract with Lactation Consultants of America. I am the official Janz Moms Representative, which serves the medical supply store on Travis AFB, offering free pick-your-pump appointments for individuals/families of those serving on base.
I look forward to continuing to partner with quality organizations to provide excellent care, encourage community education and improvement, and strengthen families through education and support.
